A new paper from Liam et al. was published in the prestigious journal of additive manufacturing (see here). This work provides new insights into the variant selection during beta to alpha phase transformation in an electron-beam powder bed fusion processed Ti-6Al-4V as a function of printing strategy. While there are many studies detaining mechanisms of variants selection for conventionally manufactured Ti alloys, additive manufactured materials pose new challenges that are not well understood by the scientific community. This study addresses some of these gaps.
